Larry Canfield
EOW - 11/12/2008
At approximately 2:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon (November 12, 2008), we lost a friend, co-worker and one of Sacramento’s finest officers, Deputy Lawrence Canfield. Deputy Canfield was conducting traffic enforcement near Coloma Road and Sierra Madre Court in Rancho Cordova when he was struck by another vehicle while on his motor. Canfield, a 13 year veteran, had been assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department's motorcycle unit for the past four years. Deputy Canfield was transported to Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael where he succumbed to his injuries.

Deputy Canfield paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving the citizens and community he swore to protect. He was doing a job he loved and loved the people he worked with. The loss of Deputy Larry Canfield will not only affect his partners, fellow brothers and sisters in law enforcement, but the community in which he served.

Deputy Canfield is survived by his wife Michelle and two sons, Tyler (12 years) and Bryce (10 years). The Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association and its STAR 6 Foundation have set up a Memorial Fund in Deputy Canfield’s name through Exchange Bank. Memorial donations can be sent directly to Exchange Bank or the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association; 1700 I Street, Suite 100, Sacramento CA. 95811.
