12th Annual Southwest Motorcycle Training and Competition
Members of the Rancho Cordova Motor Unit and the Sheriff’s High Impact Motor Unit participated in the 12th Annual Southwest Motorcycle Training and Competition which was held on April 4th and 5th 2008. These motor officers represented the County of Sacramento and the City of Rancho Cordova in an outstanding fashion showing their riding capabilities and their equipment off in an event which had participants from far away states such as Texas, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, and Arizona just to mention a few. The event hosted 155 riders on four types of motorcycles which included BMW, Harley Davidson, Honda and Kawasaki. The motors brought back 16 out of the 24 awards presented in their riding events. The awards were presented to:

Individual Rider: Pairs:
2nd place- Deputy Bill Granados 2nd place- Deputies Marcus James and Brian Aubuchon
3rd place- Deputy Marcus James 3rd place- Deputies Steve Carrozzo and Mark Atkins

Slow Race:
1st place- Deputy Brian Aubuchon
3rd place- Sergeant Todd Thiessen

Team Event (4 Riders):
1st place- Deputies Steve Carrozzo, Marcus James, Mark Atkins and Sergeant Todd Thiessen
3rd Place- Deputies Bill Granados, Larry Canfield, Scott Padgett, and Brain Aubuchon

This training and competition event was hosted with all proceeds going towards the Nevada Special Olympics. This single event was able to donate approximately $16,000 to the organization which will benefit all of the athletes who are competing in the various sports events. Our team was proud to participate in the event and help raise the money for the Special Olympics.
