The SCDSA and LEMA announced today they will begin a collaborative process of interviewing prospective Sheriff candidates. The interviews will be conducted on November 17 and 18 with representatives from both the SCDSA and LEMA Board of Directors. The interviews will be followed up with a candidate forum jointly hosted by both Associations. The date and the time will be announced. The SCDSA represents 1,500 rank and file sergeants, deputies and non-sworn staff, and is one of the largest law enforcement associations in Northern California. LEMA represents 100 managers in the Sheriff’s Department and managers in other law enforcement related fields throughout the county. The continuing budgetary crisis has resulted in a public safety crisis, and the members of both of these Associations intend to endorse the candidate that possesses both the proven leadership skills and the political savvy to guide us through these turbulent times. Once the interviewing process and candidate forum is completed, the members of each Association will vote independently on the candidate they will endorse.
